Drop-Off and Pick-Up

Staggered Entrance:

We have implemented a staggered-entrance schedule at both our Main Campus (Woodhaven Blvd) and our Church Campus (63rd Drive). Each of our classroom groups will be asked to arrive through the front door at separate times. This will allow us sufficient time to conduct health checks and get all our children to their classrooms safely and efficiently.

  • Main Campus: Each classroom will enter at a different time TBD. All students will enter through the front door, where a staff member will conduct a health check, sign them in, and escort them to their classroom. There will be no student entrance through the side door by the parking lot.

  • Church Campus: This classroom will be divided into two smaller groups, each of which will be entering through the main door at separate times. A staff member will conduct a health check, sign them in, and bring them into the classroom.

To minimize the chance of spreading illness through the school campuses, only students and staff will be allowed entry to our buildings at this time. If you would like to talk to a staff member, please contact them to make an appointment. If the CDC and New York DOE guidelines should change regarding non-staff adults entering school buildings, we will change our policy accordingly.

Health Checks:

Every morning when before entering the building, all children will receive a health check. This will involve taking their temperature, looking for signs of illness, and answering some simple question;

  • Has your child had a fever or felt feverish in that past 24 hours?

  • Has your child had a new cough, sore throat or shortness of breath in the past 24 hours?

  • Has your child been in close contact, in the last 14 days, with anyone who has or had symptoms of COVID-19?

  • Has your child been in close contact, in the last 14 days, with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19?

To expedite the process, these questions will be posted in a number of languages (including English, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, and Russian). We ask that any family member responsible for dropping off a child be able to read and understand these questions in either English or their home language, and be able to answer the questions either verbally or through a translation app.

Any child whose temperature is over 100.0 F , shows any signs of illness, or answers yes to any of the questions will not be allowed to enter the building. While waiting to receive morning health checks, families will wait in a line with appropriate social distancing markings to indicate where to stand.

Entry Hygiene:

After passing a health check, everyone entering the building will immediately need to perform proper hand hygiene. Visibly soiled hands will be washed with soap and water. If hands are not visibly soiled, they will need to be sanitized using sanitizer supplied. After this, children will be escorted to their classroom by a staff member.

Dismissal:

As with our morning entry, dismissal will be staggered as follows:

  • Main Campus: Each classroom will be dismissing at a separate time. Outside the playground gate, there will be appropriately distanced marked spaces on the ground for families to wait. Your child will be brought directly to you. Family members will not be permitted inside the playground area.

  • Church Campus: Each of the two classroom groups will be dismissing at a separate time. On the steps and the walkway to the door, there will be appropriately distanced marked spaces for families to wait. A staff member will be stationed at the front door and bring each child outside in line order (i.e., the first guardian in line will receive their child first, etc.). Once you have picked up your child, please move aside to allow the next person in line to move forward. Family members will not be permitted inside the classroom or church sanctuary.

Only people whose names are on a child’s emergency card will be allowed to pick them up. Please make sure that the names of ALL the people who have permission to pick up your child are on the emergency card.

To minimize the chance of spreading illness through the school campuses, only students and staff will be allowed entry to our buildings at this time. If you would like to talk to a staff member, please contact them to make an appointment.
