Nursery

Nursery
For any child born in 2016 for the 2019-2020 school year.

"Children gain a lot from going to preschool because they become exposed to numbers, letters, and shapes there. But, more importantly, they develop social and emotional skills and learn how to get along with other children, to share and to contribute.”

The nursery curriculum focuses on:

  • Literacy: Participating in tactile activities to build pre-literacy skills. For example, a teacher might take dictation during an art project, or emphasize the sounds of the letters in a child’s name.

  • Numeracy: Gaining familiarity with numbers through hands-on experience. For example, children might count the seeds of a hollowed out pumpkin or the number of classmates at meeting time.

  • Social skills: Practicing teamwork through collaborative interaction, and learning appropriate language to resolve conflicts

  • Observation and reflection: Engaging in seasonal activities to observe and reflect on what is found in nature.

Thematic units in the 3’s curriculum include:

  • Cooking: Learning math and science through the acts of measuring, recipe reading, and observing how ingredients change physical properties when mixed.

  • Project-based learning:  Building inquiry and research skills through projects that emerge from children’s interests and questions.

They must be potty trained or very close to it as we are a no touch school meaning we cannot physical do the job for your child but can help guide them. We believe this is a teaching time for families to help prepare their child for school.

Lunch Menu

There are three types of lunches available from our caterer.
1 Regular - contains meat
2 Vegetarian
3 Dairy Free

Each meal contains a protein, a 1% milk, seasonal vegetables, a carbohydrate (bread, rice, potato, etc.) and fresh fruit. Check out Red Rabbit LLC for examples of their weekly menus and their philosophy on healthy eating. Every family can also choose to supply their own food.  Sometimes there are special diets or cultural concerns.  Please feel free to send in your child’s lunch but we ask that it be a healthy version.
No soda or chips allowed. We also are ready for allergies from very light to more concerning but we are not a peanut free school.

Religious Studies or Independent activities

This coming school year, the Department of Education has decided to allow cultural diversity at each independent Early Childhood Center.  Our Savior is going to take full advantage of that by offering a twenty minute break each day where we will offer either religious studies or independent activities.

Parents can choose which one they prefer their child to be in.
* The UPK day is a non-religious school day except for this short break.

Religious studies are a way for us to reach out with the Love of the Lord.  We believe that God equals love and want to share that with our students. We will focus on bible stories from the Old and New Testament.
