"The most important goal of pre-k is to help your child develop the knowledge, skills, and approaches to learning needed to be ready for school. Below are typical pre-k activities with suggestions of what you can do at home to reinforce and extend your child’s learning. Working together, we can give your child a great start for school."  - Office of Early Childhood Education
Those suggestions are located in our Parent Room.

Here at Our Saviour Early Childhood, we couldn't agree more.  We also follow the Pre-kindergarten Foundation for the Common Core, an educational approach to maximize learning.  All of this is done through play.  Running, drawing, acting, building, cooking, cleaning, singing, reading, dancing, examining, sorting and eating (we are good at that), are all supported by a monthly theme that the class chooses and the teacher effectively guides.

We use an  authentic assessment tool called Work Sampling System to monitor your child's progress and to keep you informed.  Simply put, this is a process where we gather information (ex/ being able to write their name) at the beginning, end and once in between to see progression.  This helps both teacher and parent to encourage or build upon a child's learning.

No Tuition

Pre-K for All is free for any child who lives in NYC and was born in 2012 for this current school year..

We are extremely proud to be one of the certified programs that is able to offer this type of education to our community.

Five days a week | Full-time | Free

8:00am to 2:40pm
In addition, we open our doors at 7:30am for parents who need, at no additional charge (Main Campus only).

Food

Our Saviour Early Childhood also offers a breakfast and a lunch free to parents.  We are focused on nutrition, following The Office of Early Childhood guidelines, making sure that what we provide is healthy and enjoyable.  We cater our lunch in from Red Rabbit, a healthy school food alternative (www.myredrabbit.com).

If your child has special eating habits or allergies, please feel free to supplement this by providing your own meals and snacks.

Religious Studies or Independent activities

This coming school year, the Department of Education has decided to allow cultural diversity at each independent Early Childhood Center.  Our Savior is going to take full advantage of that by offering a twenty minute break each day, right after nap, where we will offer either religious studies or independent activities.

Parents can choose which one they prefer their child to be in.
* The UPK day is a non-religious school day except for this short break.

Religious studies are a way for us to reach out with the Love of the Lord.  We believe that God equals love and want to share that with our students. We will focus on bible stories from the Old and New Testament.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
